Each week, at least 140 volunteers give their time in order to provide free, high-quality groceries to our community members. Volunteering is a great way to make a positive impact while meeting new people.
Volunteer at 1824 Ellis St, our main location. For these opportunities you can sign up for a weekly shift or be on call to fill in as needed.

Volunteer at a farm through our Gleaning Program.
Starting in June each year, we need volunteers to help us glean fresh produce from local farms. If you are interested in being a gleaning volunteer, OR if you own a farm or garden and would like our volunteers to glean your excess produce, please Learn More and Sign Up Here.

Please note:
- All Bellingham Food Bank volunteer positions require some amount of standing, bending, lifting, twisting, and working independently.
- Volunteer opportunities at 1824 Ellis St are available Monday-Friday. Check out our gleaning program for seasonal weekend opportunities. There are no year-round weekend volunteer opportunities..
- Volunteers with our home delivery program must be at least 18 years old
- Volunteers with our other programs must be at least 16 years old
- We LOVE it when our volunteers can speak other languages, especially Spanish, Mixteco, Russian, and/or Ukrainian.
Do you have required service hours?
Whether this is court-ordered or for school, work or another program, please send an email directly to melanied@bellinghamfoodbank.org and share your deadline and the number of hours you need to complete. Please plan ahead to complete your service hours, if you reach out with a short timeline we likely cannot accommodate your request.

Language Support. Let us know if you are interested in providing language support or making sure food bank resources are known about in your community! We need help creating and translating materials to communicate to a wide array of people. We especially need help with speaking in person and creating audio materials for spoken languages. Community Loaves. Do you love baking bread? With support from Community Loaves, you can bake bread for the Bellingham Food Bank! This fantastic group of community bakers will provide you with everything you need to get started. Since 2021, we have received over 4,000 loaves of fresh baked-bread from our neighbors, and it truly is lovely to see. To sign up, attend a Community Loaves info session.
